There’s something extra fun about pulling out the craft supplies at Christmas and letting the kids make their own little holiday decorations. These popsicle stick snowmen are easy to make with simple supplies like pipe cleaners, ribbon, colorful buttons, and googly eyes. And because every snowman ends up looking a little different, the kids can really get creative with them!
The curly pipe cleaner hats might be our favorite part. Add a fluffy pom pom on top, tie a little ribbon around the snowman’s neck for a scarf, paint on a carrot nose, and glue on a few buttons to finish him off. Kids can choose their own colors and combinations, so there’s really no wrong way to decorate them! Once they’re finished, turn them into ornaments, magnets, cute little trinkets, or festive holiday decorations.
Craft Supplies Needed

Step1Start with the cute little pipe cleaner hat! Wrap the bottom half of a pipe cleaner around the top of a popsicle stick to get the right size. Then twist and bend the remaining pipe cleaner into a little triangle-shaped hat. Finish it off by hot gluing a small white pom-pom to the tip. Once your hat is complete, hot glue it to the top of a popsicle stick.
Step2Now it’s time to give your snowman a face! Hot glue on a couple of googly eyes, then get creative with the carrot nose. You can paint one on or cut a tiny triangle from orange construction paper. For the smile, we simply used a Sharpie to draw a row of little dots.
Step3Keep your little snowman warm and cozy by tying a piece of ribbon around his neck for a scarf. No ribbon? A scrap piece of pipe cleaner works just as well! Finish him off with a row of tiny buttons, and your cute winter friend is complete.
Once your craft stick snowmen are finished, there are so many cute ways to use them!
