How To Make An Awesome Glowing Campfire Craft For Kids
- Start by making your campfire logs! Cut several strips of brown construction paper in different lengths, then glue them together in a crisscross pattern to look like a pile of logs. For the best results, make sure your strips are long enough to extend a few inches beyond the cup on all sides.
- Next, cut or tear colorful tissue paper into small pieces and glue them all over the outside of your cup to create the flames. You can use any size cup you have on hand. The bigger the cup, the bigger your campfire!
- To make your pretend marshmallows, simply glue a fluffy cotton ball to the end of a wooden skewer. Make a few extras so everyone can gather around the campfire and roast their marshmallows together.
- Now for the fun part! Bring your campfire to life by placing a battery-operated tea light underneath your tissue paper-covered cup, right in the center of your paper logs. Turn on the light and watch your little campfire glow! Kids will love the magical flickering flames, especially when the lights are turned down.

And the fun doesn’t have to end once the crafting is done! Let the kids build a blanket fort or pop up a tent in the living room for a little pretend camping adventure. They can gather around their glowing campfire, tell silly stories, and roast their cotton ball “marshmallows” without ever leaving the house. No smoke, no bugs, and no freezing your toes off!

This fun and inexpensive craft is a great way to keep kids entertained during Christmas break, snowy afternoons, or those long winter days when everyone is stuck inside. It even doubles as a cute little light-up centerpiece or cozy holiday decoration. Who says you need to go outside to enjoy a campfire?
